DOUG E. FRESH & MC RICKY D”LA-DI-DA-DI” – 声ネタ

日本語ラップ楽曲単体を起点に非日本語ラップを取り上げる「声ネタ(日本語ラップ)」とは別に、日本語ラップに限らず、原曲のラップ起点で声ネタを掘り下げる新カテゴリーになります。
2023年はヒップホップ生誕50年といわれる年なんで、これを機に本国のヒップホップ起点の記事もチョコチョコ書いていければと思っています。

声ネタの定番と呼ばれるヒップホップ曲は数あれど、一楽曲の中に声ネタが多数在る = 発表する楽曲によって引用されるラインが違うというケースは、実はそこまで多くないと思ってて。
声ネタがフックに据えられたり、楽曲のアクセントになることが多い兼ね合い上、基本的に楽曲内で特に目立ったパンチラインが引用される場合が殆どなんで、一楽曲辺りよく使われるラインは基本的に1～2箇所ぐらいが普通。
そんな中、アーティストによって引用箇所が違うという、50年に及ぶヒップホップ史においても非常に稀なケースの代表格と言えそうなのが、DOUG E. FRESHとMC RICKY D(SLICK RICK)による名曲”LA-DI-DA-DI”だと思います。
本日8月13日は、調べてみると”LA-DI-DA-DI”を収録した”THE SHOW”の12″のリリース日だそうな(1985/08/13)。

そもそも、”LA-DI-DA-DI”自体が坂本九”上を向いて歩こう”をカヴァーしたA TASTE OF HONEY”SUKIYAKI”の一節を歌い込んだことで知られる替え歌クラシックなんですが、同箇所も含めたラップパートが至るところで引用されまくっていることで超有名。
WHO SAMPLEDでサクッと検索してみると、本作からの引用は(発覚しているものだけでも)現時点で1000曲(！)を超えているらしく、如何に”LA-DI-DA-DI”が皆に愛され続けているかが、これだけでも分かるというもの。
もちろん、スクラッチのネタとして超定番と言えるFAB 5 FREDDY”CHANGE THE BEAT”は同じくWHO SAMPLED調べで2500曲超え(！！)というモンスター級の引用数なんですけど、そっちはフレーズの意味/内容を踏まえた声ネタというよりは音ネタに近いニュアンスだと思うんで、もはや別物かと。
そんな”CHANGE THE BEAT”を除き、純粋な声ネタ(？)としては恐らくこれまで世界一引用されてきたであろう”LA-DI-DA-DI”を徹底的に掘り下げます。

引用された楽曲を全て挙げるのはさすがに不可能なんで、今回はある程度、世間で認知されているであろう楽曲のみをピックアップした上で、確実に引用だと判別可能なもの(なんで、ワンフレーズのみを引用した替え歌などは除く)だけを改めて洗い出したんですが、それでも余裕の100曲超え。
古くは80年代から最近の2020年代まで、ヒップホップはもちろん、R&B、レゲエ(ラガ・ヒップホップ)、国内の日本語ラップや歌謡曲(！)まで、原曲を声ネタとしてスクラッチで差し込んだものに加え、替え歌として引用したケースも含めて紹介します。

まずは原曲の”LA-DI-DA-DI”リリックにおいて、今回ピックアップした100を超える楽曲で引用されたフレーズを全てチェックしてみると、まああるわあるわ、原曲5分弱の間、数十秒置きに声ネタが飛び交う、正に声ネタの宝石箱！ ※引用箇所は緑ライン、複数曲で使われてきた名フレーズは白字でチェック

ラップに入る前の、マイクチェックみたいなド頭の「OK, PARTY PEOPLE IN THE HOUSE」から終盤に至るまで、万遍なく色々な箇所が引用されているのは、如何に本作がパンチラインだらけなのかを物語っていると思います。
とは言っても、FAB 5 FREDDY”CHANGE THE BEAT”並みに数々のバトルブレイクにも収録されてきた「HIT IT！」の掛け声を筆頭に、その直前の「SOMETHING LIKE THIS」とか、タイトルを読み込んだ「LA-DI-DA-DI, WE LIKE TO PARTY」、NOTORIOUS B.I.G.”HYPNOTIZE”での替え歌の印象が強い「RICKY, RICKY, RICKY, CAN’T YOU SEE？～」、やはりDAS EFX”JUSSUMMEN”の印象が強い「JUST SOME MEN THAT’S ON THE MIC」、時計ネタのリリックに引用されがちの「TO THE TICK TOCK YA DON’T STOP」等、複数曲で使われるラインはさすがに限られてくるんですけど、それでも充分多いし、どれも印象的。

改めて振り返ってみると、原曲が本国MC/DJの誰もがリリックを丸暗記しているレベルの超名曲なのを踏まえた上で、どのラインを引用するかの大喜利になっちゃってると言うか、どこを切り取ってくるかがセンスの見せ所的な、もはやお題化しちゃってる感じもして、こんな状態になった楽曲こそ正しくヒップホップの古典と呼べる気がします。
また、歌謡曲で引用される際には、明らかに”LA-DI-DA-DI”の声ネタをヒップホップのボイスロゴ的に使われていて、ヒップホップらしさの演出に一役買っているのも面白いと思います(あと、SLICK RICK自身のセルフリサイクル多過ぎ！)。
